The Oktoberfest of Blumenau is a festival of Germanic traditions that happens in middle October in the city of Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
It is considered the biggest German festival of all Americas, and the one of the biggest Oktoberfest celebration along with the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest and after the original Oktoberfest from Munich.
In 1984, Blumenau's government, businessmen and class entities came together to create an event to celebrate German culture, which has always been alive in the city since colonization. Inspired by the German festival of the same name in Munich, in its first year, Oktoberfest Blumenau brought together more than 100,000 people in the ten days of celebrations.
Since then, the party has been growing every year and consolidated itself as the second largest Oktoberfest in the world, as well as one of the biggest tourist events in the country, receiving more than 500 thousand visitors annually. All the celebration of traditions washed down with lots of music, dancing, typical cuisine and, of course, a good draft beer.
